This month, join Daniel Shaw and David O’Neill at Fletcher Wildlife Gardens for a morning walk. With fall migration coming to an end, the birds that we will be focusing on are the ones who will be staying all winter long. Woodpecker, finches, and the small songbirds that call Ottawa “south for the winter”. We will of course keep our eye out for any migrants too!

📅 Date: Sunday, November 2nd
⏰ Time: 9:00 am -11:00 am (note this is the time change weekend!)
📍 Location: Fletcher Wildlife Gardens

The walk will last about 1.5 to 2 hours, following the trails around the property to explore a variety of habitats including the backyard garden, wooded areas, open field, and pond.

Fletcher Wildlife Garden, maintained by the Ottawa Field-Naturalists’ Club, is designed to provide habitat for a variety of wildlife while also educating and inspiring visitors to make small changes that improve habitats in their own backyards and neighbourhoods. Additional Trail Info and maps

This walk is perfectly timed with the beginning of Project Feederwatch, where you can join and submit your backyard feeder observations to citizen science. Joining also provides you with free backyard bird posters like this one.

Registration is limited to 20 participants and fills quickly.

Each participant must complete their own registration form.
After submitting, you’ll receive a copy of your responses as confirmation. Meeting details will be emailed the week prior to the walk.
